CDM Project Finance and Development in Asia
The AIM Policy Center through its Infrastructure Governance and Regulation Program hosted a lecture entitled “Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Project Finance and Development in Asia” by Mr. William Pazos and Marcelo Labre of Standard Bank. Their talk focused on carbon markets (including the Kyoto market), sources of funding, and origination of CDM eligible projects in Asia.
Speakers Profile
Mr. William Pazos
Mr. Pazos is a Managing Director of Standard Bank Plc. and the Global Head of Carbon for the bank. Previously, he was the CEO and founding partner of Ecoinvest Carbon S.A., a joint venture company with Bunge S.A. and one of the largest global carbon project developers. He has originated and sold several projects formatted to participate in the carbon-offset market within the Kyoto Protocol framework. He has managed emerging market and high yield investments for more than 20 years. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a concentration in Mathematics from The College of Wooster, Ohio, and a MBA in International Management from Thunderbird - The American Graduate School of International Management.
Mr. Marcelo Labre
Mr. Labre heads the department responsible for derivative pricing models at Standard Bank, where he oversees CER pricing models and CDM project valuation. He has about 9 years experience in banking and finance and is an engineer by background, with a Masters in Finance degree from London Business School while currently pursuing a PhD in Mathematical Finance from Imperial College London.
