Summary

Facilitating Temporary Labor Mobility within APEC Region: Opportunities and Challenges

The AIM Policy Center, the Philippine representatives to the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and The Asia Society - Philippines, in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, invite you to a forum presenting the findings of the study entitled “Facilitating Temporary Labor Mobility within APEC Region: Opportunities and Challenges.”

The study was commissioned by the ABAC and was conducted by an MBA team from the University of South California Marshall School of Business. The team studied the competitive challenges developing in the APEC region caused by chronic rigidities in the international movement of labor – challenges that are expected to get worse as populations age in key economies. The findings of the 11-strong study team not only describe in detail the region’s labor market challenges, but propose model measures to eliminate obstacles from the labor “supply chain,” and simplify complex and time-consuming procedures. This is a particularly important subject for the Philippines.

The event will be held on January 12, 2010 (Tuesday) from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the E-Library, 2nd floor, AIM Conference Center Manila, Benavidez cor. Trasierra Sts., Legaspi Village, Makati City.
